It's just like kindergarten.....

Remember all those really fun things you could get away with when you were little and cute??? Smearing glue and paint all over and you didn't have to use a brush, you could use your fingers?? Playing with the scissors and cutting cute little patterns out??  Setting things on fire??? Okay, maybe that last one wasn't exactly encouraged but being the pyro that I am, I always wanted to.

Just the other day I'm slinging beer, minding my own business, chatting with customers and I find out that my neighbor not only loves all things crafty, but has her own website! (Blatant plug-in, check out Just Craft Talk, not only is Robbie fun to talk to when you should be working, but she has some pretty cool ideas!) And in all this chatting she mentions Burning Stuff!!!  On purpose!!! I had never heard of burnt bag before but she marveled me with talk of smearing tacky glue all over brown paper bags and SETTING IT ON FIRE!!!!

I have been wanting a lotus blossom candle holder for about forever now, and haven't been able to find one locally (or really have the budget....) so this started me thinking, why not try to make one?? So I combined my pyromaniac tendancies and a little deranged creativity and came up with this (so far):

I definitely want to add more petals, I'm definitely going to paint the cork and who knows what else I'll do to it. I'm pretty much jammed today but have the whole weekend to scheme and putter. The important thing is that I think it's going to work.

I'm off to be domestic.....

How I Spent My Winter Breakdown....

Ok, so it wasn't technically a breakdown but just an extended blah.... I had no ambition, no drive, no sanity, etc. etc.

But I'm back, I'm feeling good, I'm actually quasi-human again!!

There's actually very little to update you on but a few highish points:

• I've decided to try and kill houseplants again. I have always had the worst luck with houseplants, but we're going on 3 weeks and I haven't killed them yet!! Of course, the furry beasts are treating them as some sort of salad bar. All I have to do is pull my water fountains out of the attic and I'll have some sort of cat spa for them....
• I finally got my Christmas decorations back in the attic!!!  (As of yesterday, yes it was a funk)
• I've gone back to work. What started out as helping out whenever a friend of mine needed help has turned into steady bartending again. To be honest with you, I did miss it more than I thought I did. It's what I'm good at and I'm happy. I miss being with the twitchies, but it's working out.

I've got a list a mile long of things I want to accomplish, but I'll fill you in next post.... I'm easing back into this!

I finally crawled out from underneath that rock I've been hibernating under! I've got tons to fill you in on, and just as soon as I get the 47 errands I have to run, 2 dinners made and all the twitchies picked up I'll be back on and rambling like a crazy person!!!

Today's word......
                CRAZED!!!!!

The last week has felt like a month! I have had the cold from hell that will not go away. I have about 30 projects started, and only 3 of them done. My house looks like some sort of bomb went off. Just general chaos.

My goal today is to get my place looking as if some sort of civilized, self-respecting beings actually live here. (They don't really, but that's the look I'm going for). I've noticed when I don't post my plans for random interwebz stalkers to read, I don't get anything accomplished.

My Christmas hasn't even started yet. The great exchange takes place this Friday, when I'll finally have all my children here at the same time, which is a little bit of  blessing, gives me a few more days to finish up some straggling projects.

Well, as I'm not getting anything accomplished here, I better motor.

I will try to get back on later, post some pics of the few projects I've gotten done, regale you with stories of how wonderful my place looks finally, etc. etc.

Hello!

I'm still here, really.

I am so very far behind on everything I must do before Christmas (giftmas, yule, winter solstice, whatever...) gets here I may never catch up!

I am determined to get my decorations done today, yadda yadda yadda.

Just wanted to let my interwebz stalkers know I haven't been eaten by rabid badgers or anything.

I am putting the children to work today (2/3 have been home from school all week with the plague, we did get to the doctor(s) yesterday to get excuses, they will be banished back to school Monday, woot!) and we should be good!

I finally got my hands on a drill so I can finish my tv dresser. And no, D never remembered to bring one home from the garage, D's Mom came to the rescue (in exchange for me fixing 3 computers). The painting of the dresser will have to wait till after the festivities, I do however have some fabric I can hide it with for now!

I would be alot further along on gifts if I wasn't so damned obsessive compulsive. I cannot tell you how many things I have gotten half-done and then proceeded to rip apart as I wasn't happy with them. At this very moment I'm considering replacing The Boy's hat with a cuter one. (I'm picturing ear flaps ala Elmer Fudd) Argh..... damned interwebz and all the cool things I must make!

Mini-Me is not helping any with that department as she keeps finding amigurumi patterns she wants and points them out to me. (Apparently she needs a David Tennant or she will just die, really) My biggest mistake last week was signing up for an account at Ravelry!! As if I need any more distractions!! Remind me later to show you the Monster Bag I crocheted on a whim! (I could fit a smallish child/largish dog into it!)

ARGH!!!!!!!!!!! There's birds in my attic!! I just heard them!!!  I walked past the bathroom and heard them through the vent. I am now picturing scenes from 'The Birds' when I go up there to get the decorations. Is this a sign that I should not decorate this year???

I'm going to go mainline some more coffee and deliberate.
